Jeremy is out for this one, so Evan Altman of Cubs Insider steps from the guest chair into a hosting spot. Evan and Pat review the Cubs’ road trip, from the season’s nadir to beating Paul Skenes for a series split. Then they cover bright spots like Ben Brown, Ian Happ (who is a better hitter than Derek Jeter was), along with not-so-bright spots among the pitchers. The conversation turns to CBA negotiations and how both sides’ opening salvos look. Neither initial offer appears to be amenable to the other side, but there’s a long way to go. Finally, Pat completely stumps Evan with a lineup from 2005 that features some players who’ve been completely memory-holed.
